Contact: Mühlenstr. 23 18439 Stralsund www.stralsundtourismus.de the building: The medieval urban establishment of the Cistercian monastery Neuenkamp/Franzburg is in a rare state of conservation. In 1257 the site against the city wall was acquired to serve as a warehouse and to provide accommodation for members of the order. The core of the complex, which groups three wings around an interior courtyard, and which is separated from the street by a wall, dates from the 13th century. The middle wing abutting the city wall was plastered in the Baroque period and altered to meet the taste of the time. In spite of changes, the north and south wings have, in contrast, retained their original aspect. The Kampischer Hof has not yet been restored and its future use has not yet been decided. |
