the building:
The approximately 1.4 kilometre-long monastery wall has survived
almost intact. It was erected between 1283 and 1290. It is in average
2.50 metres high and built in one operation by the same method. Over
long stretches it is grounded in boggy subsoil. The wall was partly
renovated in the 19th century, and sections are currently being
restored. The wall is permanently accessible and embraces the Monastery
area.
